Next time you’re strolling downtown Tulsa and looking for an afternoon pick-me-up, check out Sona Coffee – a cozy little coffee shop hiding in Blue Dome District on the corner of 1st and Detroit. I stumbled onto Sona while walking downtown after a work meeting and had to try it out.
Sona opened their Blue Dome location in 2020 and added a second shop in South Tulsa in 2023. They roast their own coffee in-house, which comes through in the quality of the drinks.
The shop itself is small but cute, with a few tables in the lobby, a small nook, and a cute spiral staircase to a small upstairs seating area with a couch and a table. There’s not a ton of space so I could see it getting quite packed during peak hours, but I was there on a Wednesday afternoon so it was quiet enough for me with plenty of seating available.

The French Toast Latte
I ordered the French Toast Latte and the cinnamon flavor was incredible. Just sweet enough that a non-coffee person would love it, but not so sweet as to cross over into glorified dessert territory.
Check Out the Coffee Club
If you find yourself in this part of downtown regularly, Sona’s Coffee Club membership is worth considering. There are three tiers: the Mini Membership covers four drinks per week for $25 per month, Level 1 gets you two drinks per day for $50 per month, and Level 2 covers three drinks per day across two named members — perfect for couples or coworkers who make the commute together. All specialty drinks are included: lattes, americanos, matcha, chai, and more. Members also get additional discounts on food and merch, and yearly payment options are available if you want to lock in the savings.
