Elgin Park Brings New Haven-Style Pizza to the Shadow of ONEOK Field

Elgin Park sits right next to ONEOK Field in downtown Tulsa and manages to cover all the bases at once — the food is legitimately good, the beer is brewed on-site, and there are enough televisions inside to watch basically every sporting event happening on earth simultaneously.

Dave and I met up with our friend Dusty here during one of our downtown Tulsa runs, and while those two had no restrictions whatsoever, I was knee-deep in 75 Hard — a mental toughness program that locks you into a strict diet for 75 days straight. Mine had me capped under 2,000 calories a day with a 190-gram protein target. At a pizza and brewery joint. It was a character-building experience.

New Haven Pizza in the Heart of Tulsa

Elgin Park is a sports-inspired brewery and pizza joint at 325 E. Reconciliation Way in downtown Tulsa, operated by the McNellie’s Group — the same folks behind McNellie’s Public House, Fassler Hall, The Tavern, and a dozen other Oklahoma concepts. The location alone is half the pitch: it sits directly across the street from ONEOK Field, home of the Tulsa Drillers, which makes it an easy before-or-after stop on any game day itinerary.

The pizza here isn’t your standard bar food afterthought. Elgin Park specializes in New Haven-style thin-crust pies, which means the dough gets a full cold ferment overnight before being hand-stretched into its signature oblong shape and fired in a coal oven. The result is a crust that’s thinner and slightly chewier than New York style, with a bit more char. They also do Detroit-style if that’s more your speed. Beyond pizza, the menu covers wings, burgers, hoagies, and a solid lineup of house-brewed beer from their onsite brewery.

Fifty Televisions and a Ballpark View

This place is built for sports. Over 50 televisions cover the walls, and the layout is designed so that there isn’t really a bad seat in the house when there’s a game on. The 8,000-square-foot space handles a crowd without feeling chaotic, and the energy picks up fast when something worth watching is happening on the screens. It’s the kind of place where you sit down intending to stay for an hour and look up two hours later.

The location next to the ballpark gives it a particular rhythm — on game days, the pre-game crowd fills it up early, and it draws a strong post-game crowd too. Even on non-game days, there’s usually enough going on across the TVs to keep the atmosphere moving.

Elgin Park Burgers in downtown Tulsa

What to Order at Elgin Park (and What to Skip If You’re on a Diet)

Dave and Dusty went straight for the pizza and split a couple of pies — the Mushroom Pesto and what started as the Veggie Supreme before Dusty successfully bullied Dave into adding pepperoni and sausage to it. Hard to argue with that instinct. The pies came out on large sheet pans, properly blistered, and didn’t last long.

My situation was considerably less exciting. The wings caught my eye immediately, but they’re fried — not exactly compatible with where I was trying to land calorically. The salads exist, but dressing has a way of quietly torpedoing a calorie budget, and a salad without dressing doesn’t do much for protein targets.

So I ordered the burger, took the bun off, and skipped the chips — except for a couple out of morbid curiosity. They were not good. The burger was fine, nothing that stood out, but also nothing I could evaluate fairly given that I was essentially deconstructing everything I ordered just to make the numbers work.

That’s not a knock on Elgin Park. That’s a knock on timing.

The Onsite Brewery

Elgin Park brews on-site, and the tap list reflects it — house beers alongside seasonal call-ups from guest breweries. Dave and Dusty navigated the beer menu while I watched from a distance with my water. No meaningful complaints were registered on their end. Thursday nights are worth noting if you’re planning a visit: the house-brewed pints are heavily discounted, which tends to draw a good crowd.

An Easy Stop to Justify

Elgin Park earns its reputation. The New Haven-style pizza is the real draw, the sports bar atmosphere is legitimate rather than just decorative, and the location next to ONEOK Field makes it a solid anchor for any downtown Tulsa visit. If you’re catching a Drillers game or just spending an afternoon in the Greenwood District, it’s worth the stop.

If you happen to be on a strict diet, the menu is going to test you. The options narrow quickly when you’re working around fried food, high-calorie sides, and dressing-heavy salads. But that’s a you problem, not an Elgin Park problem. They’re doing exactly what they set out to do.
