Sapulpa’s Route 66 Christmas Chute

Downtown Sapulpa, Oklahoma Christmas Decorations

Downtown Sapulpa transforms into a magical winter wonderland each holiday season with the Christmas Chute, a dazzling 800-foot tunnel of lights and decorations that has quickly become Oklahoma’s most captivating Christmas attraction. First unveiled in 2022, this immersive holiday experience stretches along Historic Route 66, illuminating the heart of downtown with thousands of twinkling lights and drawing over 400,000 visitors annually.

The Sapulpa Christmas Chute is on hiatus in 2025 due to downtown streetscaping, but will return with a bang in 2026 to align with the Route 66 centennial celebration.

What to Expect

The Christmas Chute features a covered walkway adorned with over 100,000 lights creating a mesmerizing tunnel effect along Dewey Avenue. Visitors can stroll through the 800-foot canopied pathway between Main and Oak Streets while surrounded by sparkling holiday decorations and festive music.

Throughout the season, over a hundred different events enliven the Christmas Chute experience, including live concerts, craft activities, street performers, scavenger hunts, Santa meet-and-greets, and reindeer feeding opportunities.

Best Times to Visit

The Christmas Chute opens November 14th with the annual “Lights On” celebration and runs through December 29th. The attraction operates daily, including holidays. Evening visits offer the most magical experience when the lights create their full effect against the night sky. Weekends tend to draw larger crowds, so weekday evenings may provide a more relaxed experience.

The Christmas Village opens daily at 2:00 p.m., offering a festive atmosphere for families, couples, and friends to create lasting holiday memories in the heart of historic Route 66.

The Merry Market showcases local artisans and vendors in front of the Creek County Courthouse. This charming holiday market offers unique local and handmade gifts perfect for everyone on your shopping list.
