Case Community Park Is Sand Springs’ Flagship Park

If you want to understand what Sand Springs, Oklahoma does with its free time, Case Community Park is the place to start. Spread across 150 acres along the Arkansas River corridor, the park stays busy from one end to the other — disc golfers working the back half of the property, little league teams rotating through baseball and softball diamonds, skaters grinding rails at the concrete park, riders tearing up the BMX track, and families staking out spots at the splash pad. On a good weekend, every corner of this place has something going on.

Originally known as River City Park, Case has been Sand Springs’ flagship property for decades. A major $6.3 million renovation in 2016 — funded through Vision 2025 and a $2 million gift from local philanthropists Mike and Pat Case — brought significant upgrades: expanded parking, new sports fields, playground structures, a great lawn and stage area, and the Rotary Super Splash Pad. The park was renamed Case Community Park following that renovation.

Case DiscGolfPark Hole 5 Tee

The Disc Golf Course

The Case DiscGolfPark is one of the better free disc golf courses in the Tulsa metro area, designed by 2009 PDGA World Champion Avery Jenkins.

What makes it stand out is the dual-basket setup. Every hole has both a white basket (short layout) and a blue basket (long layout), so players of different skill levels can play together in the same group without anyone waiting around. The short layout checks in at 4,550 feet with a par of 54 and an average hole distance of 253 feet — approachable for beginners and casual players. The long layout stretches to 6,180 feet, par 56, with an average of 343 feet per hole. The longest hole on the course is a 600-foot par 4, and the shortest is 180 feet.

Several holes play through a grove of trees, and three holes run underneath the Highway 97 bridge over the Arkansas River, giving an urban feel unlike just about anything else in the metro area. A large course map is posted at hole one so you can get oriented before you start. Each basket also has an arrow at the bottom pointing toward the next tee. The course is well-appointed throughout — oversized turf tee pads, park benches, and trash cans are spread across the layout.

Sand Springs Skate Park at Case Community Center

The Skate Park

The Sand Springs Skate Park sits just south of the Case Community Center, built into a retention pond area that gives it a natural bowl-like setting. It’s a 7,000-square-foot custom concrete park with more than 24 skating features ranging from ground level up to over 7.5 feet. The setup includes ramps, stairs, grinding rails, quarter pipes, gaps, banks, hips, bridges, and hubba ledges, plus several artistic features built into the flatwork. There’s enough variety here to keep skaters of different skill levels busy — it’s not just a beginner box setup.

The park is open dawn to dusk and allows skateboards, inline skates, and bikes. Safety gear is strongly recommended. Restrooms and water are available inside the Case Community Center next door.

The BMX Track

The Sand Springs BMX Track is managed jointly by the Sand Springs BMX Association and the City of Sand Springs Parks and Recreation Department. The two-acre track received substantial renovations in 2026 and features concessions, restrooms, bleachers, and other amenities. Access is through the Sand Springs BMX Association — you can participate as a league member or attend one of their periodic open house events.

Rotary Super Splash Pad at Case Community Park

The Rotary Super Splash Pad

The Rotary Super Splash Pad is one of the larger splash bucket installations in Oklahoma. The signature super splash bucket drop anchors the pad, and sprayers and fountains are spread throughout. The surrounding area is well set up for a full afternoon — there’s a playground right next to the pad, restrooms on site, a concessions stand, and a Little Free Library. It’s a self-contained corner of the park that covers just about everything a family with young kids needs in one spot.

The splash pad runs from the first week of May through September 30. Check the City of Sand Springs Facebook page for maintenance closures before making the trip specifically for it.

The Arkansas River

The Arkansas River isn’t just a backdrop at Case Community Park — it’s a destination in its own right. The park includes a boat ramp with enough access to fish, kayak, or put in a small fishing boat when the water’s running high enough. When water levels drop in the summer months, the exposed riverbed becomes its own kind of attraction. People explore on foot and by ATV, and arrowhead hunting along the sandy banks draws a dedicated crowd.

One of the better ways to experience this stretch of river is to put in a kayak upstream at Swift Park, closer to Keystone Dam, and float downriver to Case at your own pace. It’s an easy, scenic float that ends right at the park. Just make sure you have a ride arranged to pick you up at your destination.

The natural setting along the river adds a lot to the overall experience. The park is full of mature cottonwood trees, and bald eagles are a common sight nesting along the banks — the kind of thing you don’t expect to find minutes from a metro area. If you spend enough time out here in the early morning or at dusk, it’s not unusual to spot beavers, foxes, or coyotes coming out of the woods along the river’s edge.

Case Community Park Roger S. Bush Soccer Complex

River City Trail

The River City Trail runs straight through the park, connecting the Case Community Center at the north end all the way to the Arkansas River Bridge on Highway 97. From there it links up with the Katy Trail, which ties into more than 30 miles of interconnected Tulsa County trails. Whether you’re walking, jogging, or riding, it’s a genuinely useful connector — not just a loop around the parking lot.

The Playgrounds and Sports Facilities

The park has three large playground areas spread across the grounds — one by the Great Lawn with inclusive equipment for kids of all ages, one right next to the splash pad, and one near the baseball fields. Beyond the playgrounds, the sports infrastructure here is extensive: softball fields, a full soccer complex, baseball fields, volleyball courts, horseshoe pits, and a Thunder Cares basketball court that received substantial renovations in 2026.

Case Community Park Great Lawn Amphitheater

Events on the Great Lawn

The Great Lawn and stage area serve as the park’s event hub throughout the year, hosting Fourth of July fireworks and Movie Nights among other community gatherings. The stage, Great Lawn, and individual park shelters are all available to rent. Visit the City of Sand Springs website for current event schedules and reservation details.

Case Community Center in Sand Springs

Case Community Center

At the north end of the park sits the Case Community Center, a 26,000-square-foot facility at 1050 W Wekiwa Rd. Inside you’ll find basketball courts, a walking track, weightlifting equipment, and table tennis, along with flexible space for meetings, banquets, and events. It’s a full-service rec center that would be the headline amenity at a lot of parks — here it’s one piece of a much larger property.
